Part of the 2008 Board Governance Series, (sponsored by the Community Foundation of Greater Lafayette, United Way of Greater Lafayette, and NCHS) Phil Purcell, CFRE, MPA, JD and Vice President of Planned Giving and Endowment Stewardship at the Ball State University Foundation will teach this workshop. Phil currently serves as a volunteer on the Tax Exempt Organization Advisory Council for the Internal Revenue Service (Great Lakes States region), and teaches courses on Law and Philanthropy, Nonprofit Organization Law and Planned Giving as adjunct faculty for the Indiana University School of Law (Bloomington) and Indiana University Center on Philanthropy and Fundraising School (Indianapolis). In this workshop, Phil will use his experience to teach you about various revenue streams, customer markets, current and upcoming funding climates, diversity of funding streams, and how boards and volunteers play a vital role in providing financial resources for your organization.

Students are an incredible resource, especially in college towns, but how do you make these volunteer experiences rewarding to both your organization and the student? Harry will bring you his experience in directing the Boiler Volunteer Network, and also an agency perspective from his former work with the Greater Lafayette Volunteer Bureau. The workshop will end in a question and answer session from several local college and university volunteer representatives, including Purdue University, Purdue Calumet, IU Northwest, St. Joseph College, and Valparaiso University.
